filter maintenence

I have a tank that is cycling with fish. It is aqueon bowfront with aqueon 50 hob fIilter. is there any maintenance I should do other than wash the filter cartridge in tank water to get rid of gunk???

Nope. I have the same pads now as I did 6 months ago. It really is that simple of just regular cleaning and when it falls apart add a new one a few weeks before taking the old out so there's not much impact on BB.
