I have a 20 gallon long tank. It has a couple live plants in it and 4 platys currently. I would like to start stocking it little by little and I think I know what I'd like to stock it with. Here is what I would like the end result to be:

8 - Platy (Various Types)
4 - Cherry Shrimp
3 - Oto Catfish
1 - Betta (Not sure what type yet and would likely be last into the tank)

I'm looking for some feedback on this possible composition for my tank. Thanks all.

The betta will eat the cherry shrimp. Maybe drop the platies down to 6 and get 3-5 dwarf neon rainbowfish. They'll eat anything and are very easy to care for and breed, if you wanted to. Males have red fins and females yellow fins.

Yeah out of my 7 bettas, only one can co-exist with cherry shrimp. The rest of your stocking looks good though I would probably get 6 otos for a proper shoal. The betta will probably eat the platy fry, but that's kind of good for population control and also nice healthy live food for the betta.
