first time cycling a tank and didn't read before set up

Hey the girlfriend and I just got a 10 gallon tank about 2 Weeks ago we didn't do much research. We have one bristlenose pleco, and five zebra Danios. we don't know much about cycling, the ammonia has been at about 4.0 for the past three days with no sign of nitrite. Is there anything we should do at this stage?

Welcome to AA!

Very first thing you need to do is a some large water changes to get the ammonia as low as you can. Ideally it needs to be under 0.25ppm.

Agreed with the above. A pleco needs at least a 30 gal tank depending on size, I'd return the pleco if you can.

Yeah, then you could do a fishless cycle.
