Fish

I stopped at the fish store to lok around today
If i have the room i think I'd like to have
guppys
rummy nose tetras
a banjo catfish
corys
an apple snail
and I saw a fish called an elephant nose that the guy said is placid but it looks like it gets to large for my tank

yes, elephant nose's get rather large. What size tank do you have?
I'd recommend at least a 25 gallon for that, as they can get larger than 6 inches if properly cared for.

I'd test your water before going out and buying fish. All water is not created equal. A tester kit costs about 30 bucks. Make sure it can test ammonia, [acronym:832959cb66="power head or Measure of the concentration of hydrogen ions, depending on context"]PH[/acronym:832959cb66] and nitrates at the bare minimum. Nitrite would be nice.
hardness test is nice as well, as some fish prefer harder (or softer) water Most of those are fairly hardy, you SHOULD be ok, but it'd be nice to know how your water is. Its kind of like jumping in a bathtub full of water, but not knowing how hot or cold it is.

How long as your tank been set up for?
