I want to make sure I'm not missing anything, I plan on gettnig a betta once my cycle is done.

2.5g tank
5g submersable filter, with sponge media from my 55g.
mixture of small gravel, large gravel, and pool filter sand
small flower pot cave
2 silk plants

heater to come

Sound good?

Oh yea... I added a freshly killed red wiggler worm and some freeze dried plankton to start the cycle. Although I just realized I seeded it by added my 55 media...

hmm

Probably wouldn't have needed to add the red wiggler and plankton. With that small tank, and seeded media, you might see a small ammonia and nitrite spike, but should pretty well be cycled. How are your parameters doing?

you could've just added the betta and the seeded filter media at the same time.. provided the 55 gallon was well stocked, then you probably wouldn't have had a cycle at all.
