Hi, I would be grateful for some advice please as there is so much conflicting stuff on the web!
I am starting week two of fishless cycling for 5 gallon tank. I added pure ammonia one week ago and my levels are now nitrate 100, nitrite 3.5 and ammonia 6ppm.
My ph, Kh, th and cl are all good. I have a mixture of live and silk plants in my tank. I've upped the temp a little also.
My question is: should I do a water change to bring the levels down or sit it out? Many thanks in anticipation......

Hoping to pop a male Siamese fighter in once my cycle is complete

Hi ClaireNo:

It sounds like your cycle is well underway. I'd suggest continuing to monitor your parameters until your ammonia drops to about 1ppm, then add some more until you see a rapid drop down to zero on both ammonia and nitrite. Once you're there, a water change before adding your fish would probably be a good idea.
