If you have chloramines in water, the dechlorinator will break it up and form ammonia anyway, which a mature filter should quickly take care of.

Yeah, this whole argument started as an explanation to why I couldn't use my tap water as a control for my liquid API test kit. I haven't had any issues with this (knock on wood!)

Also, let's say I have chloramines in my tap water and I add nothing to it and test it with the API liquid test kit. Do chloramines show up in the test kit?
