Gonna start cycling today have a few ?

Well today I am gonna start cycling both of my 55's. If I can find some ammonia how much do you add to a 55 to get it up to 4 ppm? If I cannot find any ammonia and have to use shrimp can I use it until I find or order some ammonia?

Just add a liitle bit an let the tank circulate for twenty minutes or so, then check your levels. Add as needed.it's no biggie if you over shoot, just do a small pwc. Shrimp can work, but from what I read they can cause mold and fungus, so watch out for that.

When I was cycling my 20g, I used 3 ml of ammonia to get to 4 ppm...start with 5 ml, wait an hour and test to see where you stand.
