I'm flipping through the flyers right now and I see this:

Do you think I could pop a couple 125g rated sponge filters in there, a heater, and some lighting and use that as a grow-out tank for the 100+ babies I have?

There are larger stock tanks available as well. (I had just seen this one in my flyers) My local pet store is going to be buying/crediting them off me when they're a little bigger.

Has anyone ever done this? Or perhaps an internal filter running in there?

Honestly, I think you could probably pick up a 55g aquarium on craiglist for the same money. Personally I would much rather have my fry in a transparent rectangle than a tub.

But to answer your question as long as the tub can safely hold water you should be able to put sponge filters in it. What kind of fry are they? Any risk of them jumping out the open top?
