High nitrates

Hi I performed a test and my nitrate reading was 40ppm. How do I bring this down thanks.

Water changes.

Test your tap water nitrate level.

My tanks can't get under about 40 right now because of the high tap nitrates, so I have to do about 3 PWC's a week. This happens for about 2 months every year in my area and then the tap goes back down.

Last house I was in had about 10-20 ppm Nitrates out of the tap as well. Its really frustrating watching the tank levels sit at 40-80 ppm all the time.

But yeah, water changes is what you do.

Plants are sort of out of the question cause my silver dollars will destroy them.
