how much rock is too much?

i'm trying to figure out how much rock i can put into my 55gallon SAFELY, as to not crack or break through the bottom

i have it on an iron stand for now until i finish building my new wooden one, if that matters.

i'd say i have about 30lbs in now & if i cant add more i've gotta find a better stone for my african's caves that will fill the tank nicely

Basically, as much as you want. Just use some plastic eggcrate louvers (ceiling light diffusers) along the bottom glass to disperse the weight.

cool .. i've heard the term eggcrate used before but assumed it was milk crate material haha

do i just lay it under the gravel? & does it have to be flat on the glass or can i do my best w/o removing all my dolomite?

& lastly, is it something i get at home depot or a pet store? i'm gonna google it now but i figured maybe i'll get a response before i can find it lol

it needs to be flat against the glass. Yes you can find it in home depot or lowes in the ceiling section

i realized i can just slide the gravel to one side, add half & repeat.. maybe 3rds.. shouldnt be TOO hard lol
