How would you guys go about this?

I need to top of a little sand in my tank. What would be the best way to go about doing this? I would really like to avoid having to completely drain out the tank as removing all fish (it's a 55g). Suggestions?

Cut the bottom off a 2L pop container and then wash it out. Stick it into tank and dump sand in slowely. I would turn off all filters till it all doesn't get stored up.

Wash the sand really good, then use a little container and pour the sand into the spots where it needs to be. You should probably drain at least 50% of the water though.

I need to do a water change anyway, didn't get around to it yesterday :hides: so that was why I figured I might as well go ahead and top off my sand while I'm doing my WC.
