my filter is fluval U4 internal and my fish list is:
6 bleeding hearts
8 rummynose tetras
2 dwarf gouramis
8 galaxy rasboras
8 emerald rasboras
6 debauwi catfifh
6 shadow catfish
6 golden pencil fish

The galaxy rasboras are nano fish that stay very tiny

i think thats about 55 gallons. you'll want a better filter,but the stocking looks okay

U4 is probably the best filter u can get isn't it???

An external would be best. You will be able to find more powerful internals though

You should probably also do around 4--50% water changes a week ideally as well, particularly if you stick with the U4

This will help to keep your paramaters good. Rummies and shadow catfish inparticular can be quite senstive

For a large tank like that you could look into a canister. I have a Fluval. For a 55 you could do a Fluval 406.
