Well I just moved my gfs betta from the ridiculous bowl he was in to a
10g with two mystery snails. Is really like to add some shrimp in there. Any advice? Also can you feed bettas flake food or other foods than the "betta pellets" sold for them? This may seem silly but I've never been into bettas don't know much about them this was her fish....

As mentioned keeping the shrimp will depend on the betta and his temperament. You could try 1 or 2 and see how it goes. They may or may not end up as snacks.

As for feeding a good quality flake or pellet is a good staple. You can round out the diet more with a bit more variety. Things like bloodworm, tubifex worms and fresh veggies are good things to offer once or twice a week. Fresh veggies can be things like cooked deshelled peas and cooked carrots. Just make sure they are soft and add in smaller portions.
