Aquarium Advice Apprentice
I have a 125 gallon freshwater community tank I set up over a week ago. I used a bacterial cycler for 4 days before I added 6 mollies and finished the cycler after a week and the fish were fine, one even had babies and they seem to be doing fine still. My ammonia and nitrite levels have been 0 since setup and I added a school of 10 neons and a school of 6 tiger barbs and 1 pleco last night. I know that may be too much of a overload but for a big tank I thought it would be OK if I tested the water a lot. The new fish are fine swimming around and seem happy and hungry. But 3 of the mollies are just sitting still on the top of the water and 3 others are in the back in a group not moving. Some of them didn't eat and some did. It's almost as if they are scared of the new fish. I tested the water today and it was fine, and I even did a 20% water change and they are still doing it. Any suggestions?
I think the tigers have been kinda messing with them, my girlfriend has seen it a little but I figured since they were in a group they would be fine. They are young ones so maybe they're playing or trying to establish dominance. Also the tank size I figured would be enough for everyone. I'll give a few days and see. I also have aquarium salt in there. Feel like I've done everything I'm supposed to so we'll see. Babies seem fine. Thanks for posting.
Recently added 6 juvenile tiger barbs to my 125 gallon tank along with 10 neons. The barbs seem to have harassed the 6 incumbent mollies into hiding and some won't eat. They seem to be messing with the neons too. I figured with my tank size a school of tigers would be just fine. Any suggestions?

4 more would be 10. The stocking will allow it but I don't want to make it worse by getting more. I figured with such a big tank they wouldn't bother the other fish too much. Guess I got a hyper bunch.
Yeah, I have a lot of decor, large sunken ship, lots of plants. Lots of hiding places for the scared ones but I wish they didn't have to hide. I'll give it a few days and see if they stop bothering them so much. If not, I might have to see if my LFS might take them back.
