Murky Sand Water

Just put about 2" of play sand in my 10 gallon aquarium (future dwarf frog home).
Afterwards I filled it up with water and the water was VERY murky. Me and my brother emptied and filled it a few times to attempt to help clear the water but it didn't seem to help at all. I don't have a filter to use and want to know
1. How long will it take to settle
2. Would my dwarf frogs keep stirring it up again
3. What could I do next time to lessen the waiting time (besides a filter)
4. Wold putting plastic plants and other decor stir it up again

Did you wash it before you added it?
It will settle in a few days but if you didn't wash the fine dust out it will be easily stirred up again.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I would take the sand back out and rinse it thoroughly in a bucket.

No I didn't wash it.
How would you wash fine sand?

I washed mine in a bowl....Filled it with water and mixed it up with my hand. Then I just dumped out everything ontop and did that a few times.

^^ that works well. Also you can put it in a pillow case and run water through until it runs clear.
