Hi I have a marineland Emperor 400 and a marineland penguin 150 currently running on my 90 gallon tank and I want to upgrade to a canister. I am very new to fish keeping and want to do what is best for them. I have read so many reviews online about different canisters and really don't know which is best. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

Great filters.

Also good, but expect lower quality because of cheaper price point

Thanks for the suggestions. I read that one should buy a canister that is capable of doing double the tank size, any truth to that? Should I look for one that can do 180 gallons?

I'll add Aquatop CF series.

You want 8x to 10x tank turn over. So if you have say a 90g tank you'd want a canister filter that puts out 720 to 900 gph. Or two canisters that put out 360 to 450 gph each.

My "rule" is to buy 2 canisters rated at or slightly above your tank size.

50 gal tank means 2 canisters rated for 50 - 75 gallon each.

Ok great I will keep that in mind. Thanks for the help
