Hi all, brand new to the site, a division I have about a year of experience with freshwater. I just recently was blessed with quite a few pieces of equipment at no cost. I am upgrading my freshwater from a 30 tall to a 55. I have a sump that I believe is 15 gallons and a fluval 304 canister. I would like to run both and a separate refugium. I just can't figure out a good way to protect against a power outage seeing as how the sump as well as the fluval are both syphon fed. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks alot.

I would have thought no power no water movement.
Canisters are syphon fed into the filter but the return is at or above tank water level, so without the motor there will be no water movement.
Sumps are usually fed by an overflow, rather than a syphon, and if no water is being pumped into the tank from the tank then there will be no overflow and no water moved.
