Yes, it's fine for freshwater.

Still keep a close eye on the pH though. I added my original 2T of cc on the 5th and started seeing the pH drop two days ago. So, I took out the old and put in some new. I did not rinse it before hand.

I just picked up some Nature's Ocean Coral Substrate from Petco. It was about $10 for 20lbs. A lot, I know, but I didn't want to go searching other stores. I'm not sure if it's the best brand, but it worked for me.

Got the 55gallon tank set up this past weekend. I've got all the plants moved over and the sand substrate from the 20gallon is on top of the new sand. I'm running both the new 55gallon filter and the old 20 gallon filter on the 55. I added a capful of ammonia last night and I'll start testing everything either tonight or tomorrow night.
