co2 set up

Question.. if nh3 breaks down to nitrites and then nitrates, why am I getting a positive reading of ates and not ites ?

Thx,

Dave

I set my co2 up today and want to make sure I understand everything and have it all correct. I still have to add a powerhead to the reactor tomorrow.

8/31/05

pH 7.7
nh3 0
ites 0
ates 10
3dkh
po4 1.0

The pix show how it's set up, and one question.. Do I just clip the pH probe to the rim of the tank and leave it there permanently since it monitors the pH and will shut off via solenoid?

Thx,

Dave[/u]

i put my ph probe as far away from the reactor as possible--to get the most accurate readings--someone correct me if i'm worng, but it seems to me that the if the ph probe is close to the reactor, it might give more inaccurate readings (lower ph) due to its proxmity to the source of the co2. i placed my ph probe in the middle of the tank along the back behind some plants--and just left it there.
