New Tank, First Snags

I've seen the same thing. However, I'm dealing with a low pH with a high gH/Kh problem in a little 2 gallon hospital tank. I've read elsewhere that sometimes a high gH/Kh can prevent pH adjustors (yes, I know, that's frowned on too) from working. So I did a water change with the distilled to hopefully bring the gH down so the adjustor will work. I need to get this fish transferred to a larger tank soon and I don't want to shock it with a sudden transfer to a higher pH!

Hey, thanks. As you can probably tell by what's below my signature line, I've gone a little bit crazy with setting up tanks....I've got six of them now. I'm now having issues with pH...I think it's just the water over here in Aurora. I got some stuff called Discus Buffer that cuts it pretty good. I'm using it in my Angel tank to keep the water on the soft side.
