Okay so after 6 weeks of fishless cycling with no results, I completely tore down my tank and started again with clean media and new substrate. I'm now on day 6 of this new cycle. Today my nitrite test looked slightly different...definitely not purple by any means but it didn't have that turquoise color to it. I tested again along with tap for comparison. Tank water (on the right) looks more blue...or is this my imagination? Could my tank finally be making progress?

How exactly did you fishless cycle?

Dechlorinated water with Prime and then dosed pure ammonia up to around 3 ppm. Temp set at 84, bubble wand for aeration. Now just waiting for ammonia to convert to nitrite...

I gave up on it. I used the tetra safe start, and it worked. I do respect your patience though.
