hello ..
i bought my daughter a Marineland Contour Glass Aquarium Kit.
Amazon.com : Marineland Contour Glass Aquarium Kit with Rail Light, 5-Gallon : Pet Supplies : Pet Supplies

unfortunately the filtration sucks, the water is a bit cloudy and its kinda small.
im now looking to buy a 15-20 gallon rectangular aquarium (most likely from petsmart) and the filter, lights , gravel separately { don't know if i need anything else }.
i like to buy reliable items at fair prices.
can someone recomend me the best components for my new build ??:banghead:

Tank: 20 gallon long. It will allow you a ton of space for fish compared to a 20 gallon high.

Filter: Aquaclear 30. Very good and popular filter here. Fairly easy to maintain and durable. http://www.amazon.com/AquaClear-30-Power-Filter-Includes/dp/B00020SVDG

Heater: Jager 100 watt heater. Sturdy and quality. http://www.amazon.com/EHEIM-JAGER-HEATER-100WATT-Misc/dp/B000CPAS1Y

Test kits: API freshwater master test kit. This is a very important bit of aquarium equipment. http://www.amazon.com/API-Freshwate...r=1-1&keywords=api+freshwater+master+test+kit

That's the core mechanical equipment you'll need.

thanks for the suggestions. :flowers:
i went and bought the aquaclear 30 and installed it into my Marineland
fish tank. it cleaned the water up alot better than the built in filter.
:fish2: i plan to get a fish tank this weekend

I agree 20g long tank. I prefer Cobalt Neotherm heaters. Agree with test kit.
I would use sand and not gravel. I personally hate dealing with gravel.

I have a fluval 206 canister filter on some of my 20g tanks. Depends on your fish stock.
