not really getting started...

My tank is already established with a canister filter and HOB filter. Current inhabitants are 2 large angels 1 Opaline Gourami 1 honey Gourami 2 banded Gourami 1 powder blue Gourami 3 tetras 1 African brown knife 1 featherfin catfish 1 striped Rafael catfish 1 dinosaur bichir 1 rainbow shark. Approximately 18 plants. And small polished river rock. Had an incident the other day and lost approximately 8 fish and looking for cool replacements. I had a cichlid before and he did really good. Along with a fig 8 puffer. I'm going to get another puffer and cichlid. Any suggestions?

Angelfish are cichlids. That tank is not really an appropriate setup for a lot of those fish in that combination. If you must add cichlids add a pair of Bolivian Rams. Or Keyholes.
