So, It's day 7 of my cycling quest. My pH jumped up rather high, and I was wondering if that would stall cycling?

12/25: pH was at 7.8
12/27: pH was at 7.8
12/28: Gravel added. pH jumped to 8.2
12/31: pH is at 8.4

Should I worry about it? Or should I just do pwc's to lower it? I don't want to have to redose :/

Thanks!

Hello Loch...

If you're cycling the tank with fish, you don't need to fret over the pH. Just test the water daily for ammonia and nitrite. If your test shows a trace of either of these toxins, then remove and replace a minimum of 25 percent of the tank water.
