To save threads, I have several questions?

If I use a prefilter, to keep my fry from being taken by the filter intake, will I prevent the filter media from doing its job? If particles can't reach the filter they can't be filtered, right?

How long do I need to wait before I can safely assume a new ac filter setup is performing bio filtration?

Does the python siphon work well? And is it worth the money?

Will a rio ? tetra bother mollies?

Do you ever stop wanting more tanks? I feel like a junkie in the making.

1. no, this won't be a problem for the bio-fitlration. It may prevent the filter from sucking up some of the larger particles, but that's not really what you need to worry about.

2. if it's a new filter on an established tank, a few weeks.

3. YES

4. don't think so.

5. sadly, no.

Prefilters will not harm the bacterial cycle within the filter.

I consider filters cycled after a couple of months myself. I prefer to err on the side of safety.

The rio tetra shouldn't bother mollies. Molly fry might be at risk if they are really small. But then any fry is at risk in a tank with adult fish.

MTS is an illness I can't offer you a cure for. Every time I think I have MTS cured, I contract STS (shrunken tank syndrome) and MTS starts over as I need more room for fish. :)
