I've been cycling a 55g for a week now with no change in parameters at all.
Temp. 85*
pH 8.8 + it could be past the limits of the test
Ammonia started at 4ppm, on Wednesday I did a 50% WC to take it down to 2ppm. I was nervous the test could be wrong since it goes from 4 to 8ppm.
Nitrates and nitrites are both 0. Does it usually take this long to see any type of parameter change?

Unless you have seeded material (old filter cartridge, gravel) then yes it takes awhile to see any change I would just get the ammo back up to 4ppm and let the bacteria colonize its all about patience in this hobby. Add some crushed flake food to help the bacteria get some nutrients that can help but only do a pinch one time and in 4 days test again and see what happens
