So I got my 29 set up and running. I plan on doing a fish less cycle for about 2 months but I will get the plants put in next week. I did have a list of plants that I had saved in my notes but I as I was going to copy it I had deleted it. For fish when I get them will be:
Pair of GBR
Peacock Goby
Pair of killifish(wish I could give ya specific one)
5 rummy nose
3 hatchet fish

Otherwise super stoked to get it going here. My testing kit should arrive today.

Thank you. No I haven't. I had gotten the book "what fish." And yeah that wait is going to be tough. It has been 4 years since I last bad an aquarium so I'm pretty excited about it. I will have to check out that aqua advisor.

Tank looks good!! Have you thought of a background?

You know since I have been doing aquariums for almost 13 years with a 4 year break so more like 9 years. I have never cared for a background. But if I was to do one it would be a solid blue or something along those lines.

Understand... Some things aren't for everyone. I couldn't do a tank without one lol. Although I gotta ya know what grew on me. The frosted background look.

Yeah, i generally like a plain black background. It shows off the other colours in the tank better, like fish and plant colour.

Never thought about a black background. I might like that. You have pictures of your tank?

I also like the plain black. I just switched over from laminated paper to a painted on background last weekend and I really like it!

So how after should I test the water of the tank and do a WC? It has been setup since Sunday and as you can see by he pictures there is nothing in it.

So I got the plants. So far none of them off my list. The lfs has a small selection of plants and the rest of what I want I will just get online. I do like the right corner but the left corner in going to rearrange.

If your using prime or something similar to condition water wait 24 hrs to test I'm also doing fishless cycle I have plants also, I'm adding Ace Hardwares ammo to my tank it's 55 gal I found 2ml equals 1ppm of ammo 4ppm is your goal. since yours is basically half my size 1 ml should give you 1ppm you can always add more jar to take it out, wait an hour b4 you test ammo after you add I'd say, found that 20 min didn't quite work out to good. I'm in day 3 of my cycle ammo is dropping and nitrites are going up quick plants really help. I'm still kinda new at this hopefully someone else with bit more exp will chime in too. But hope this helps out a little that article on here "almost" complete guide to fishless cycle is super helpful and so far been dead on for me I'd suggest looking it over.

1 more thing I second the background black would be killer with those plants, mine is blue (wife won that black/blue battle for background)

Added some new plants: red tiger lotus, dwarf hairgrass, red rotala, and water wisteria.
I do understand the difficulty of the red rotala. I know I got everything for it, like iron ferts, potassium ferts, root tabs, co2 and one live plant fluorescent bulb. The lighting is my only concern with it.
