Stocking 30 gal

Setting up a new 30 gal tank for my unborn sons room. Want to do one fish, thinking of an electric blue jack Dempsey but seems like 30
Gal is too small. Any other fish that get to a decent size (5/6) that would work in a 30?

Virtually all fish are social creatures. Putting one fish in a tank by itself, in my opinion, is not appropriate. Most all fish are happier and healthier in groups. If you want bigger fish, try Rainbowfish, like Boesmani. They get to be 4-5 inches and are colorful and like to be in schools.

A single fancy goldfish could go in a 30-gallon easily, and they're very interactive with their owners.
