Hi all. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. I'm in planning mode re the next stocking steps for my 40gal breeder.
Current set up includes:
Sand substrate, densely planted with silk plants
Two Aquaclear 30 ext. filters
78 degrees
Chicago Tap water pH 8, 130mg/L hardness

Current inhabitants:
10 serpae tetras (were six but were solo nippy, calmed down when I increased to ten)
9 rummy nose tetra
1 dwarf gourami

I'm planning to add 5 Cory cats, not sure which species
I would really like to get a South American dwarf cichlid pair.... But I've heard they can attack corys and blind them?

Thoughts welcome, thanks,

Be brave, try a live plant. I'd recommend Java Fern. Tie of glue it to wood or decor. There are how to vids. Super easy plants.

You Ph is high for Cories and SoAmerican fish. Try to buy ones that have been raised in that PH or consider adding PeatMoss to your filter. Don't throw chemicals in to adjust PH. Some driftwood may also leach some tannins that they'll like.
