Hi everyone, I'm new to this! I have decided to do a fishless cycle on a small tank I have. I thought I would try the "fluval subtrate" which appears to be small balls of soil (?). I rinsed it as best I could, put it in the tank and added the water as slowly as I could....well I've ended up with a mud pool!!!...I have a large filter which I have laid on the bottom (too big to stand), I thought the small filter wouldn't cope with it.Will that clear it quickly, or should I completely empty the tank and use gravel? Thanks Anita

Can you post a pic?

I'm not personally familiar with that substrate but when I have water issues from dirty substrate I just do a few huge water changes. That is usually more than enough to clear up any problems.
