Tank cycle update and question.

So I’m cycling my tank. I’m about a week in and my nitrites have started to show up and are going up, but my ammonia hasn’t gone down yet. Is this normal?

Fish in or fishless cycle? And yes, it is normal.

If this is a fishless cycle, stop adding ammonia.

If it is fish in, you will probably have to do water changes to keep the ammo and nitrItes down while the bacteria colonies establish themselves.

It’s fishless and I took out ammonia two days ago.
