Hello All !

The following mineral water is pretty cheap when purchased at warehouses like Costco:

14756373

Would you say that it is preferable when doing NEW or 20%-WATER-CHANGES to use such mineral water without water conditionner... or is it somehow better for the fish to get regular Tap Water with the appropriate amount of Water Conditioner equal to the amount of water added/replaced ?

Thanks a lot !!

You're only sustainable solution for the long term is to use tapwater with some kind of conditioner to take care of chlorine and chloramine. I would not recommend adding mineral water because it does not do anything to help the fishes.

And 99% of fishes will be able to adjust pretty well to tapwater.

You can use distilled water as a less effective but readily available alternative to ro water.

Even this is expensive for anything but a nano tank.

Example 25% weekly water change on a 40 gallon.
10 gallons
@ .89/gallon
52 times a year.
Is $462 a year

Buying an ro/di unit
$199
2080 gallons of water @ .0015/gallon(waste water included)

$7-$30 a year depending on rate.

Filter replacement twice a year $60

Year one savings of $173
Every following year you save $372

Top figures would vary based on model of unit(I went with bull reef supply 4 filter) and where you live.
