The Evolution of My Tanks

Howdy all!

I recently moved into an apartment in Augusta GA and my landlord is not a fan of big aquariums. But nobody ever said I can't have multiple small aquariums! I'm starting this thread to document the change and evolution of my tanks as they go from general setup to biotope studs.

First on the list. My 5.5g build for RCS and CPD. Lighting is window and CFL. Plants are Riccia, Java moss, 2 varieties of Java Fern, Anubias Nana, and Red Ludwigia. No animals yet.

Next is my 10g. As of right now it is full of Corydoras Pygmaeus and Habrosus, along with a lone CPD (to be transferred when I get more). Plans for this is to create a South American biotope with the Corydoras Habrosus and some Beckford's Pencilfish. Lighting is a stock lighting although looking to upgrade to a Archaea LED system.

Lastly, the other 10g tank. This one will be a SouthEast Asian tank. Current residents are Croaking Gourami, 3 Kuhli Loaches, and 2 Beckford's Pencilfish. No lighting.

Lastly on the thread, plans for the tanks and future tanks.

The 5.5g is pretty much set aside from a plant to cover up the filter more. I just need to get some CPDs and the RCS are actually in the mail.

South American 10g will be a C. Habrosus and Beckford's Pencilfish tank. Heavily planted. Looking to get a light and some plant options. I don't mind not keeping the biotope ideas as far as plants go.

SouthEast Asian 10g will be RCS, the Croaking Gourami, and Strawberry Rasboras. Heavily planted. Same scenario as the South American tank.

Lastly, I am eventually setting up a heavily planted 20g long for Apistogramma Agasizzii Tefe Pearl Blue. This may take awhile

*5.5g Build Update*

Just got the RCS in. Look fantastic, thank you MaxWellag. Also added a thin leaf plant to place in front of my filter. Doesn't quite do the job but I love it's texture. Moved some Java Moss and the Riccia!

Little update! Lights for the two 10g came in.

Specs for the lights are Coralife dual lamp HO T-5. They are looking good so far! Next step is DIY CO2 and making them heavily planted.

Update time!

First, on the 10g SouthEast Asian biotope. Added some Cambomba and more Crypts (various kinds). Waiting to order some Celestial Pearl Danios until my 29g is ready.










Next is an update on the 29g Apisto paradise. Got my light fixture along with some assorted Crypts! Coming along nicely.






Lastly I figured I'd take a picture of my "fish room."

Painted the back of my tank black. Thoughts? Should I spread this to my others?

Been a few days. Also not sure if anybody even reads these.

10g SouthEast Asian tank. Finalized inhabitants. 1 Croaking Gourami. 3 Hi-Spot Rasboras. 6 Celestial Pearl Danios. Perhaps Mandarin Shrimp from Severum Mama. I know it's a lil overstocked. I just couldn't get rid of the Hi-Spots





10g South American tank. Finalized habitants. 4 Corydoras Habrosus and 5 Beckford Pencilfish.





Lastly the 29g planted tank! Future habitants are 10 Corydoras Pygmaeus. 5 Rummynose Tetras. 3 Apisto Agassizii. Got a whoooole bunch of plants coming in on Friday!
