Hey everybody.
My names mike, from the too hot outside florida.
Ive been into this hobby for 8 years or so, but never had the time or spare cash to have a "big" tank, big to me atleast. i had (have) a 40 gallon that ive had cichlids and otherfish, and a few fish were getting too big for the tank.
found a nice deal for a 125gal with a sump (that was cracked) for $150 on CL and started putting this tank together.
I welded up the tall stand, picked up a cascade 1500, fixed the sump and got it all working with a new overflow box. Also picked up a used coralife 36 UV off ebay for a good price.
im still in the process of making the hood, and the magnetic panels for the stand, so its got along way to go. Im still also building more and more slate rock caves for the fish. a few of these pics are a few weeks old.

Like i said im still tweaking everything and building everything.

since these pics ive added the rest of my cichlids (like 16 so far), 2 5in raph catfishes, and a 12in+ pleco. They crap like mad (and move my sand like crazy), and i noticed alot of waste on the floor that the filters werent picking up.

I had the cascades input picking up on the left side of the tank, same area where i had the sump output and also input (the overflow box is on the left side), so i moved the cascades input on the right side, below its spray bar.
I just did that so ill see how that works, but anybody have any better ideas for flow and filtration?

Any input would be great. so far so good.
nice forum you have here too.

Well, first off, welcome to AA!

:welcome:

TBH tanks this big are way beyond my level so I don't really think I can help much. It sounds good. I'm assuming you know all the basics of the hobby (i.e. how to do water changes, how to cycle a tank, etc.)?

Looks awesome!! I like how it's see through into the other room.. as for the doodoo mess on the substrate.. you can get a power head and put it on the bottom corner blowing over the sand and it should keep particles from settling.. a 600 gph should be sufficient..

So just picked up a 75gal tube tank. Pretty wild. Was a salt tank but I'll prob move all my planted tank setup to this. I'll post some pics.
I'm redoing the stand for it now.
