I can't get this started now, or probably any time soon, but in the future when I have my own place and a good job and good experience with a few smaller aquariums, I would very much like to have a big aquarium with red irian rainbowfish. I've fallen in love with these beautiful fish. I figured it's never too soon to prepare for a dream tank. Are there any experts on these here who can give me some tips about how I could set up a proper habitat? I imagine a 55 gallon long would be the minimum size, with lots of plants in the back and swimming room in front(or densely planted instead?). How do you guys keep these fish, if you do? I hear they have tiny mouths and need tiny food. How tiny exactly? Male to female ratio? Tankmates? Would striped kuhli loaches be compatible? I would love to have some of those, too.
