Do you guys recommend using a certain type of fish to cycle a tank? Or not at all?

Still sticking with fishless cycle IMO. Although now I would just borrow media from a cycled tank I have.

IMO fish-in cycling stresses the fish which opens it too other infection. Fishless is completely risk free.

Okay I will do that then. Thank you

I found in a mini-cycle that the high ammonia was fine, it was the later high nitrite that seem to knock them around a bit. Not certain on that though. Sometimes I wish fish could speak.

Also if you know somebody with a tank you could take the water they discard from a water change. If you can get 50% or more in your tank it will cut your cycle time in half. But also And more importantly the bacteria in the media. Even if it's only a few pieces of media and on loan lol. i've had them level out in seven days
