I have a 20 gallon tank, had some angel fish but realized they will not work in that tank size and they got picked on by the barbs. I have 6 barbs currently and a balla shark which I was told would only grow as big as the tank allows. What else could I add to the tank to complement the barbs and the shark? I was thinking of doing algae eater or a bottom feeder. Any suggestions on these? Is there any other school I could add in there that would get along with the barbs? Also, I got a stock filter, should I upgrade it? I also want to add plants, real ones, but not a lot of natural light hits the tank. I have stock led that came with the aquarium starter kit I got. What plants can I add?? Will the light be ok? Any suggestions would be great, thanks#

So you got rid of the three angels already ? That was pretty quick. Next thing you need to do is rehome the shark, ASAP !!! Whoever told you they'll only grow to tank size is highly uneducated with them and a poor choice for consulting. They're best kept in groups of 3 and at least a 70g tank (if not bigger) as they could potentially grow to 16". http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=830+888+1177&pcatid=1177

As far as comparability of fish, you should look into this chart http://www.liveaquaria.com/general/fwcompatibility_chart.cfm and then refer back to this http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/aquarium-fish-supplies.cfm?c=830 to help determine which fish will be best in a 20g tank.

As for your "stock" filter, no clue what one you could be referring to as there are many "stock" filters sold. To get a better idea of what you should be using, refer to http://aqadvisor.com/ to establish stocking and filtration calculations. Hope this helps get you back on track to becoming a great aquarist. Hopefully your tank is cycled and don't forget WC's are a big key to fish thriving and not just surviving.

Low light plants include anubias and hygrophila, both very easy starter plants. Just don't bury the rizhome of the anubias, it needs to breath..
