My first reef.I have yellow watchmen with pistol shrimp (best friends) damsel, 3 hermit crabs,2 Mexican snails
2 pieces of button polyps 1 candy coral both seem to be doing well

Water seems to be perfect.except I noticed my ph was 7.4.
And my phosphates have been 0.25 since day 1 which I don't see it changing until I get a ro/di filter

I recently bought 2 clown fish Both died made me very sad could the ph have done this or could it have been something else
Also lost 1 Mex snail

Hi, sorry about your clowns. :-(

I know the ph is low, not sure if it could have killed the clowns though.

How big is your tank? How long has it been set up for? Are you using dip sticks to test your water or a liquid kit?
You could have had an ammonia spike....

Tanks been up for 3 months .45 gallon. I used both dip sticks and Liquid

Another questions is, how did you acclimate them? With your ph being so low, if they weren't acclimated correctly, that may have killed them.

To get your ph to go up, aim some of your powerheads towards the surface to produce some gas exchange. That should raise you up into more normal ranges.

I didn't know ph was low. I did let them hang out in the bag for about an hour.
And I didn't know about the power head trick.. Thanks
