Green blue and purple acan brain coral..

I've had him for 5 months

I have T5HO 6 bulb aquatic life

Bulbs are 6 months old 4 actinic 2 10,000k

All parameters are checked by saliferts earlier at lfs and everything was fine

Salinity is 1.023 to 1.024

Temperature is 79 degrees

It is glued onto a small round rock that rests at the bottom of the tank

Low to medium flow

I don't do dosing

Closest coral is 6 inches away.. a hammer coral

So its a
Ways deflated and I have never seen him eat? I spot feed my corals and he puts the sweepers out but is always flat

What are your other parameters, and the trends you have seen with them, especially PO4, NO3, KH, Ca, Mg?

My acans have done this from time to time but have always come back ok - but you will want to make sure it isn't a sign of some problem (even if gradual, like a slow decline in KH since you don't dose anything).

Allrigh5u I have been spot fweding and had an alkalinity problem that I have just about adjusted. I found out that this coral is a favite brain and as soon as I found out everything made a lot more sence.. I went and bought an acan today because its what I've always wanted and I thought I had.. lol

Thanks for the response!! Would you mind posting a picture of your acans? Ill try and get one of mine up. He is drip acclimating right now and he has BABY BLUE on the whole outer rim and Orange in the center.. I haven't done a head count yet.

Thank you!

I have a few different kinds in my tank:

Yes, all came from my LFS's. I am lucky to be in the Chicago area where there are a few good reef stores around.

Well, 2 of them are on the bottom, one is about mid to 2/3's up. All I would say have medium flow.

Cool. I've heard of one in chicago that is a pretty good size store.. I went to a store called fintastic and it is the size of a small target!!! They cjarged $100 for the Acan that I bought. They also had an acan that was $1299. It was pretty awesome looking.
