barred dart goby

It has the stringy thing hanging right before its fin. Help please

Is he being affected by it? Is it causing him any discomfort? Hard to tell by the pic what it is.

Still eating and swimming around. I have two other barred dart gobies, they are all acting normal. But the thing hanging is probably close to and inch long and looks strange.

I've never seen it just hang out. It was there for a few hours.
