Both of my anemones died. The rose got ate by the maxi-jet 900 and the atlantic by the rio 1700.


What the hell can i do to prevent powerheads from murdering my livestock ? this is over 60 dollars that just got killed for no damn reason, needless to say i am very pissed off.

Put peices of screen over the inlets? any help would be appreciated.

I don't know about the maxi-jet, but you can buy a conversion kit for the rio. I got mine at Big Als:

I still have plenty of water flow and nothing gets sucked in.

Cover the intakes with a sponge.

1 yesterday morning 1 the day before. would plastic very fine mesh screening work for the maxi's? or should i go find some type of nylon sponge ? eve if i find it, do i put it inside the little intake pipe or on the outside ?

You can fit it around the outside of the intake. Did it not come with some screening?

i lost one to a 1200 once now i dont trust them to not have a sponge over it

I purchased some nylon type sponges for filter media and what not. Im much more satisfied and will not worry about future anemones. Still a very sad learning experience.
