thanks for the replies. Here's the update:

- orange/black clown continued to look terrible...skinny, panting, and listing from time to time
- bagged him up and took him back to LFS...they offered to "babysit" him for a bit; didn't think he had ich...no white spots visible, although I could have sworn I saw a couple of "salt/sugar" dots like y'all described the night before
- planning to continue to watch the larger orange clown to see how he does...still looks great for now

Also, despite the drama I couldn't resist when at LFS and added a cleaner shrimp and an emerald crab to the crew.

Will post again an update on orange/black sickie after a few days of babysitting......

That's the nasty thing about ich. The spots will come and go. One day you think you have it, next day you think you overreacted. Then a week later they come back with a vengence.

I'm amazed that your LFS took the fish back with the possiblity of the fish having ich. Did they isolate the fish there at the store?
