So I returned to the LFS where I bought the fish and headed right for the tank it came from and lo and behold there is another clown fish rolling on the bottom tank, obviously distressed, acting almost identically to mine just before he died. As if that wasn't bad enough, 2 other clown fish were charging and ramming it.
I think I failed to mentioned that fact earlier; as that was the reason I selected the fish I brought home. It appeared healthy at the time but appeared to be getting ganged up on which I thought was simply because he was smaller. Did the other clowns know he was sick?
My water quality continues to be really good. Are there any dangers aside from what a good test kit will monitor for?
46g SW bowfront, 196W Coralife PC fixture, 2x 100W heaters on a Johnson Controls controller, AquaC Remora Pro skimmer (Mag3 pump), Marineland Magnum HOT cannister, Marineland 100 Penguin Biowheel (for transfer to QT), and a Koralia 2.
70 lb of live rock, and 4+" sand bed.
Various nassarius, turbo, trochus, astrea snails, a Tongan conch, and 4 small hermits, as well as a skunk cleaner shrimp.
3x Blue Chromis, Bangaii Cardinal, O.Clown, and a yellow clown goby.
Mostly LPS corals, with a few SPS thrown in high in the tank.
You can add your CUC's. Snails, hermit crabs, a nice shrimp. If you watch your tank you will find out that there are lots and lots of animals in there already, Spot them..try to find out what they are..as you learn the time will really fly and in no time at all you will be putting fish in your tank safely. That's half the fun and the wonder of it all.
