Cycling Bacteria

Are the various Nitrobacters that cycle your tank in freshwater the same bacterial strains that cycle a saltwater tank? IE, could I use an existing biofilter from a freshwater to help get a bacterial population growing in my saltwater tank? Thanks!

The bacteria will not survive the transition from fresh to salt. The environments are far too different chemically.
