dead coral

Hi guys,

I've added some [acronym:6460e77166="Live rock"]LR[/acronym:6460e77166] yesterday for starting the cycle of my 15 gl tank.
But, i have a piece of dead coral here which is from the seas near Marocco.
Could i add this to the tank? Note: this piece of coral hasn't been touched with any chemicals, etc..
I figure that it's harmless to add it to the tank as i'm cycling it anyhow..
Could i do this or not?
Also, i c some aptaisa on this [acronym:6460e77166="Live rock"]LR[/acronym:6460e77166], should i just let it cycle first and afterwards i'll battle it?
tnx!

Oh yea, i have some pictures but to where should i upload them?

I would not add it.

I would handle the aiptasia now, as they are sturdy and may even reproduce while the tank is cycling. While you have easy access to the rock (can easily move it in and out of the tank), a good chisel can strip them right off of the rock. Joes Juice or [acronym:b9f5a7b2e8="Kalkwasser"]kalk[/acronym:b9f5a7b2e8] paste for the rest that you can't reach to scrape.

The piece of dead coral will most likely just get covered in nuisance algae quickly, I would not bother adding it to the tank.
