Fin rot?

I had a coral banded shrimp in the tank with the sail-fin and they always fought so I know the shrimp tore up his fins, but my question now that I got rid of the shrimp is whether or not my sail-fin has fin rot, and if he does do I need to take out the carbon filters for treatment?
