I purched as nice finger leather from the LFS the other weekend and it initally opened but for the past 4 days or so it has not opened. I have increased the flow to it, not sure if it helped. the coral itself looks kind of shinny not sure if that is normal either. Any Ideas????

Sometimes leathers can take a few weeks to adapt to the tank and get settled. Also it is possible the coral is sloughing, do you see a mucas film coming off of it?

That shiney look you're seeing is because of the coral beginning to shed. They go through this all the time. They extend for a while and then when they need to grow they shrivel all up, pull in all their polyps and begin to shed. When it is done shedding and the skin has sloughed off the coral will extend again. When it does that it will be bigger than ever! Mine is shedding every week and a half. At this rate I'm going to have to frag that baby in no time!
