If i get a firefish, and take off my glass canopy when i upgrade my lighting, will he be likely to jump out even if i have eggcrate on top. The eggcrate looks like a firefish might be able to get out, anybody have any problems with jumpers through Eggcrate.

i have a purple firefish and im topless. Knock on wood he's never gone near the top of the tank :)

Have one in a topless tank. Been fine for almost a year. HAD another in a 40g tank for 2 months and he jumped. Ya never know. Tank mates, shadows from passerbys, anything might make'm jump. Then again, might not.

IMO, it'd lessen the chance he'd get out. Might get lucky and make it thru a hole. Might not. I found that the eggcrate darkened my tank more than I liked.

One of the LFS' arround here put a screen top on their firefish tank. Like the ones you use for lizards and such. Still allows for the circulation but limits the escape factor :)
