Fromia star

I purchased a fromia star without reading up first about the poor success rate people seem to have. He hasn't moved a whole lot but is moving. I am finding conflicting info on the Web. Is he curling his legs up more as a sign that he is likely dying or is it a method of feeding?

I think it's normal I used to have a chocolate chip star that did that all the time. Had it for about a year then got rid of it when I started getting coral. Most starfish as far as I know aren't very active either

I wouldn't worry about it. I had a Fromia over a year and it curling in limbs seemed to be a common theme. I loved mine and one day it just melted away. If it's dying you'll know it.

That guy looks awful. Was he exposed to air? These guys have an awful success rate in the aquarium because we don't know what they eat. It could be anything. I'd suggest returning him.

He did look awful I agree. But survived and motors around the tank non stop now.

I'd still be concerned out of a starfish that we don't really know what it eats and has a very high mortality rate in the home aquarium.
